Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks – Berlin show 2014 @ Postbahnhof

malk

Berlin History Archive: This article previews Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks’ 2014 Berlin concert at Postbahnhof. The performance and ticket information have ended; the text is preserved as a record of Berlin’s live-music history.

Indie messiah Stephen Malkmus & band ‘The Jicks’ are to embark upon another world tour in 2014!. That means us lucky Berliners are entitled to a thick slice of the post-Pavement pie. wigout His 6th studio LP ‘Wig Out At Jagbags’ is set to be released early next year and by the sounds of the two lead singles, predictably laden with observational randomness and inexhaustible satire, it’s going to be a goody!. As if he were capable of anything else. Not one to rest on his laurels, Malkmus (47, with a kind of Benjamin Button thing going on) is an extraordinary man. A tireless musician using the modern-day media platform (in his case Domino Recording Co) to his advantage whilst seemingly remaining aloof, underground and very 90’s. If you’re unfamiliar with his solo work – you can expect all the magic of Pavement’s ‘Brighten the Corners’ or ‘Wowee Zowee’ with, dare I say, a preponderance of prog. The new set up enables Malkmus to utilise his underrated guitar chops. He does this tastefully, of course. malk For more info on Steve and the band visit Stephen Malkmus official The show takes place @ Postbahnhof, Straße Der Pariser, Kommune 3-10, ^^^10243 Berlin, Germany. Full details and tickets. I’d love to leave you with a clip from the upcoming album but alas, GEMA have thwarted my plans (again). Here’s a classic! Text: Rob Bravery
