POJANGMACHA: A Korean Birthday Party and You’re All Invited!
By Andrew Cottrill . October 2, 2015
Tonight is POJANGMACHA’s first birthday party and we are all invited.
POJANGMACHA (meaning street vendor) is a monthly streetfood and all-things-Korean festival held at Platoon Kunsthalle on Schönhauser Allee. The idea for the festival came from when Platoon opened a Kunsthalle in Seoul, saw the amazing streetfood scene there, and thought ‘hey, Berlin needs a slice of this’.
But, this time around, it’s a birthday celebration. This means that, on top of all of the Korean streetfood vendors, Soju and Makgeolli drinks, there’s going to be a whole night of entertainment – from free karaoke, to competitions and giveaways (including drinks and food), Korean drinking games, a Korean DJ battle between Troi & Cago, and night-long fun from the party’s host, Tal Siano.
POJANGMACHA’s Vendors:
Son Kitchen and Korean burgers.
Mokbang Kitchen with Kimchi Cheese Quesadillas.
The Hoodoo Cookie Lady with a sweet treat – Hodo Kwaja, a cookie baked in a walnut shaped mould and filled with red bean paste.
Gong Gan with steamed dumplings, Mandu and Odeng soup.
There’s a small cover charge but, if you dress in traditional Korean costume, you get in free! Come on guys, who hasn’t got a traditional Korean outfit in their wardrobes they’ve been waiting for an opportunity to wear?
