Tom’s Gig Guide #11 – Party Like An Italian

By Tom Taylor . January 20, 2017

Forget your ill-conceived detox – January wasn’t the most sensible time to start one, was it? Defrost your frozen heart and put on your dancing shoes. It’s time to party.

Friday 20th January

Adriano Celentano Gebäckorchester @ Marie Antoinette

Berlin Gig Guide adriano-celentano-berlin-loves-you

Antje Öklesund was one of Berlin’s best small live music venues and the host of many excellent nights of live music. The loss of this Friedrichshain staple to a wrecking ball last year was hard to stomach, yet the vibe lives on this Friday night. Billed as a solidarity party for Antje, tonight the venue’s former ‘house band’, the Adriano Celentano Gebäckorchester unleash their rabid party vibes on Marie Antoinette. These guys have taken their demented love of ’50s and ’60s Italian music and created their own tribute band. Their first concert since the demise Antje, this promises to be a good ‘un. Just when we need them most, in the depths of January, ACGO appear to show us a good time.
