By Catherine J. Fehre . August 31, 2013
Saturday, August 31st is going to be a busy night with both Lange Nacht der Museen and the Torstraßen Festival, two completely different yet exciting events.
Lange Nacht der Museen (Long Night of Museums) is a huge Berlin event, with about 95 museums keeping their doors open till well into the night. Visitors and locals alike can travel throughout the city and visit a variety of museums to see collections, exhibitions, tours, and special programs.
The theme is “Junge Wilde und Alte Meister.” Different museums will greet you with either young and old couples from mythology, stories of family life in Berlin’s upper classes and royal court, or famous music hits from various generations.
The center will be at the Kulturforum at Potsdamer Platz and there will even be shuttle buses to the different locations. Buy tickets online.
For it’s third year, the Torstraßen Festival will be on and around Torstraße in Mitte at multiple venues, cafés, shops, and bars. There will be a diverse showcase of performances and several genres of music to fit everyone’s tastes.
The festival is meant to bring music and culture into the neighborhood, keeping the prices low, so everyone can have access and enjoy the musicians’ performances. They mix the old with the new in an attempt to bring the neighborhood together.
Buy tickets online here or at St. Oberholz and all venues on the festival day.
And if you can’t decide, you could always budget your time and go to both!
