Hear ‘We Are Stray’, SADO OPERA’s Punsexual New Single
By Andrew Cottrill . September 15, 2017
Ever felt you might be a little… stray? SADO OPERA’s new single, We Are Stray, invites you to join their feral pack of free-range lovers.
SADO OPERA, Berlin’s premier make-up-wearing, free-loving, skull-funking, gender-bending, Twitter-trending synth knob-twiddlers, are back. Their punsexual new single, We Are Stray, answers the question “are you straight or are you gay?” with a resounding: none of the above.
It’s a pounding disco/funk manifesto for a life of love, romance, dancing and joy. Someone is straight, someone is gay. We are stray.
Shunning guitars and strapping on Roland Juno-60 and Korg Poly synthesisers, SADO OPERA create an ’80s onslaught in We Are Stray that’s part pop pelvic-floor-filler, part Controversy-era Prince with an extra shot of fentanyl. It’s a call to arms to the stray cats and dogs out there, to band together and find something they like to… sniff.
In the accompanying video, director Andrey Kezzyn lets us glimpse SADO OPERA on their never-ending prowl around Berlin. SADO OPERA’s Berlin: Wilde Renate, Ficken3000 and ICKY, the places even strays call home. In the video you meet some of their pack – loving nomads, free to stray – and are invited to join them.
