Berlin’s 4th Tech Open Air Festival With 140 FREE and Inspiring Events
By Allison Krupp . July 14, 2015
Tech Open Air (TOA), an interdisciplinary technology festival that creates a vibrant backdrop for lively tech conversation, is the first of its kind across Europe—finding roots in Berlin’s pivotal “Silicon Valley.” 120 “unconference” speakers and 140 satellite events span July 15, 16, and 17, all over the city. The speakers (ranging from entrepreneurs to musicians to artists to scientists) appear on outdoors stages to discuss how technology transforms their professional realm in creative and tactile ways, thus generating an interactive and inspirational environment for the 4,000 plus attendees.
The likes of Soundcloud, Axel Springer, and TechCrunch host these 140 completely free and public Satellite events. According to Tech Open Air founder Nikolas Woischnik, this year combines diverse technological platforms in incredible ways: “We’ll have Max Planck robotics researchers who rescue victims of natural disasters and an online yoga platform founder sharing the same stage.” Just another Berlin day, no?
Further, Tech Open Air offers Shazam founder Chris Barton, Dirk Alhborn, the man bringing Elon Musk’s futuristic transportation Hyperloop to life, and countless others, including two of Forbes tech-minded 30 under 30.
Here are a few of the completely FREE Satellite events throughout the city you can’t miss:
