Terrain of Threshold Voices is a month-long exhibition and performance project facilitated by District Kunst- und Kulturförderung and the English Theater Berlin. Dedicated to forms of artistic research on language, the project brings together artists Anna Bromley, Constant, Larissa Fassler, Jaume Ferrete, Pieterjan Grandry and Valentina Karga, Wilhelm Klotzek, Hanne Lippard and Nasan Tur. Each artist considers the transformation of the urban landscape (in particular its migratory movements) through turning their attention to the written expressions which use the contemporary city as its textual surface. Through these relationships each artist considers how the urban landscape could be explored as a terrain of potential friction between different communities.

The Terrain of Threshold Voices also includes performative movements throughout the district of Tempelhof-Schöneberg surrounding District Kunst- und Kulturförderung. The site-specific performances by Hanne Lippard and Wilhelm Klotzek take this microcosm as their field of exploration and action. Both the exhibition and the performances in the neighborhoods map out terrains, structures and movements which emerge at intersections and ruptures between different social narratives of Berlin. A recommendation for those who are interested in alternative readings of this city’s many histories as they are grappled with by those compelled enough to leave their mark on the urban landscape.
