Multi-talented rapper and performance artist Mykki Blanco will be appearing at Südblock on June 5th. In her 2012 debut rap album “Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss,” Blanco combines elements of rave, Hip-Hop, Trip Hop and Riot Grrl, all from the self-described “acid punk rapper”. Mykki Blanco is the womanly side of Michael Quattlebaum Jr., who has mainly drawn attention as a writer and poet. After touring with Death Grips, Grimes, Gang Gang Dance and selling out NYC shows over the past two years, Südblock serves as an intimate setting for the stand-out entertainer Mykki Blanco.
“Cosmic Angel is my way of welcoming the world into my reality, the weirdos, the freaks, alternative black american culture. Sexuality figures in last, were talking street life, night life and under the flashing strobe light or the soft glow of the moon everyone and anyone is a Cosmic Angel.”
