Win a bottle of Berlin-produced gin at the MASTICATE Pop-up dinner

Extra-sensory dining duo MASTICATE are hosting their latest event on the 22nd of October.
Titled Monochrom, it will be based around a five-course dinner made entirely from plant-based ingredients, and will also feature some raw foods – a speciality of English chef Lucy Locket.
Lucy has been working together with interior architect Jacinta Lawani to attempt to explore social architecture and subvert the traditions of traditional table etiquette. They encourage guests to not only digest, but also to participate in the event, which will feature live audio, visual and kinetic elements created by a range of artists in order to entertain each of the five senses. This will take the form of contemporary dance and art installations, including work from food photographer Rene Riis.
Through this they begin to blur the distinctions between art and food, telling guests ‘play with your food’ – a far cry from the expected behaviour one is supposed to show in your everyday restaurant!
In accordance with the name, Monochrom will be just that, with the dishes only various shades of gray.

The idea behind such a pared-down aesthetic is that the menu is designed to abstract sensory perception – in the absence of colour texture and form become the primary focus. Flavour is still key of course! Along with the sumptuousness served up on your plates, there will be a special welcome cocktail served up by alchemist gin mixologist Marcus O’Shea, and a delectable gift courtesy of BELYZIUM chocolate. Fine wine will be flowing courtesy of Vipava.
