Kiez Oper presents “The Fairy Queen” at Renate – Friday the 22nd & Saturday the 23rd
By John Perye . August 21, 2014
Kiez Oper (Neighborhood Opera) is coming back to Wilde Renate for the first time in years for two never-to-be-seen-again performances of “The Fairy Queen” by Henry Purcell. This unique open-air opera experience, in English, is brand new and site-specific.
“Over 300 years old, “The Fairy Queen” follows the story of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with an array of magical creatures – elves, nymphs and mythical creatures half human, half animal. The opera takes place not only on the stage instead, artists and musicians mingle with the audience and use the entire space of the garden of wild Renate.”
The performance is supported by a Baroque Ensemble, under the direction of Benjamin Bayl (State Opera), singers of the International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper and other international actors and artists.
Tickets are 12 Euros which includes the after-party! Doors open at 19:00 and Show starts 22:00 (Both Evenings)
Venue: Salon to wild Renate, Alt-Stralau 70, 10245 Berlin
