Berlin Fashion Week is about to start (from 8th-11th July), and next to the event the Berlin Fashion Film Festival (BFFF) is also taking place.

With 70 films on the line-up selected out of more than 700 submissions, the festival mixes known brands with fashion newcomers, something that definitely spices up the competition.

For those who want to see more artsy, creative and quite avant-garde ways of producing fashion, the public screenings from the BFFF are definitely a must-see.

Hyped Berlin label MYKITA (featured here) and French Maison Martin Margiela collaboration not only made it more interesting to wear sunglasses but also brought up their very gloomy vision of spring/summer through the lenses of Julien Soulier and Adrien Landre.

Designer Vera Wang doesn’t let us down with her ethereal bridal collection, by keeping us wanting every piece shown in a very delicate and slightly sexy aesthetic, directed by Gordon Von Steiner.

Also, actress Penelope Cruz makes her debut as director with short film L’Agent, for British label Agent Provocateur. The Spanish star puts together on-screen hubby Javier Bardem and supermodel Irina Shayk.

As for the newcomers, event organizer Niccolò Montanari told us to pay special attention to Gsus Lopez, an undergraduate Fashion Media student from the London College of Fashion, and Alex Turvey, a film director, designer and visual artist from Cornwall, named by Vogue as one the prominent talents of “Fashion’s New Generation”.

The grand-finale of the Berlin Fashion Film Festival is left to renowned Russian visual artist, Andrey Bartenev, who will perform at the closing party on the 10th of July.

I leave you with a small teaser of what to expect at BFFF. Maybe see you all there?
