We’re painting the town!… Or at least Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg anyway. On Thursday, May 19th at 8pm join us for the first in a series of BERLIN LOVES YOU Photo-Walk Workshops. This first workshop will focus on night-time long exposure shots.
With the Berlin weather getting nicer, and the dark nights receding, we figure it’s the best time to shed a little light of our own, and capture this city at its luminescent springtime best. Using the most iconic parts of Berlin as a canvas, join us as we teach you the ins and outs of light-painting using a camera’s bulb and shutter settings to create powerful long exposure shots.
In this Photo-Walk Workshop we will go over both the analogue and digital theory and practise for long exposures shots and night photography techniques. Learn how to use your camera to paint with light and create beautiful and haunting images, capturing the Berlin trains running through the sunset before we hit the streets together to test out our new light painting skills in the Berlin urban wilderness.
We will meet at the RAW Gelände in Friedrichshain where we will go over the basics of capturing long exposure photographs and will practise the techniques before starting our walk. We will then explore the most famous Kreuzberg sights while shooting our long exposures and painting the town with light.
By the end of the workshop, we will have taught you everything you need to know about long exposure and night photography to allow you to continue to experiment with light painting techniques in your own photography. The art of long exposure allows so much control and room for experimentation – this is a great class for anyone looking to up their photography game!
The cost of this workshop is €40. If you are interested in taking part, email us on firstname.lastname@example.org. There are a limited number of spaces on the course so be sure to secure your spot on time.
Come out and enjoy the night with the staff of BERLIN LOVES YOU!
The Photo-Walk Workshop will be led by BERLIN LOVES YOU photographer, Antonio Castello. Antonio is a Colombian photographer who recently moved to Berlin after spending three years in NYC, capturing the catwalks of New York Fashion Week and NYC’s urban lifestyle. For the last 10 years, he’s worked professionally as a photographer for major international companies (including The New York Times), recording artists and bands (including Disclosure and The Vines), and has had his work exhibited in New York, Paris, London, Bogotá and Hong Kong. He is currently a brand ambassador for Lomography.
*These techniques work better with a tripod. If you can, please bring your own.
**If you don’t have an analogue camera and you want to learn how to use one, we can provide you with one (please send us an e-mail so we can arrange it).
