Synästhesie Fest 2022: 5 Bands You Can’t Miss

By Allison Krupp . November 17, 2022

November 18th kickstarts Synästhesie Festival 2022 – a two-night hit-fest at Kulturbrauerei.

Haven’t gotten your tickets yet? What are you waiting for? Buy them here! This is one of Berlin’s quintessential music festivals — one that celebrates Berlin’s vibrant and talented music scene. You can’t miss it.

Here are five unmissable bands that aren’t Slowdive or Die Nerven. Find a full schedule for Synästhesie Festival 2022 here.

Lemongrab

lemongrab

Montreal-born and Berlin-based punk rockers Lemongrab bring wild and pointedly arrogant vocals, wailing guitars, funky bass lines, and enough energy to warm up our cold, November hearts.

Where: Local Stage
When: November 19th, Midnight

Roller Derby

roller derby

Hamburg trio Roller Derby is dreamy-poppy-indie at its finest – featuring echo-y and nostalgic vocals that beg for everything all good dream pop songs are hungry for: “Only You” and “Something True” and shit like that. (I dig it.) They opened recently at Silent Green and were killer, you know, in a sad and achy way.

Where: Maschinenhaus Stage
When: November 19th, 22.50Uhr

Gewalt

gewalt

Berlin-based Gewalt is “fucking compelling,” “uncompromising,” and “shocking” (says Tom Taylor) noise rock with more artistic links to Klaus Kinski and Daft Punk than other noise rock bands of our time. Spotify calls their show a “resurrection experience,” which I, for one, don’t plan to miss.

Where: Kesselhaus Stage
When: November 18th, 20Uhr

Lobsterbomb

lobster

Berlin-based LOBSTERBOMB is a lil bit indie, a lil bit punky, and a lot of sass, attitude, and hair dye. They make “songs that mix the frustrations and fears of the time with an optimistic desire for seizing the moment to make positive change.” If you’re not into that, the songs are also easy to jump around to, which is cool also.

Where: Maschinenhaus Stage
When: November 19th, 19.30Uhr

Data Animal

Berlin-based punk rockers Data Animal have an at-times goofily wicked energy (see songs “Bad M.F” and “End of the Night,” their collab with A Place to Bury Strangers). This spring, they play SXSW – and are clearly on their way somewhere, doomily and zanily.

Where: Local Stage
When: 20.40Uhr
