See Isolation Berlin and Yoga at Monarch – Win Tickets Here

By John Perye . December 4, 2014

The next generation of Berlin pop has arrived! Isolation Berlin has been on the scene from a little while now and have released one protopop EP entitled Aquarium. They are currently breaking into the professional music scene, with a second EP just recorded that will most likely be dropped by an important Berlin label in the near future. Yoga is at the beginning of their musical career, but have already filled up venues like Tiefgrund and Antje Oklesund. Let’s take a minute and get to know each band a bit, shall we?

iso3How would you describe Isolation Berlin’s sound?

Our sound feels like drowning in a dark sea of happiness becoming slightly mad.

Where and when did it all start for the band?

In Isolation Berlin two years ago abraxas came to us to kill and save us.

What attracts you to play live in Berlin?

Berlin people have a right to experience good music.
yoga2How would you describe Yoga’s sound?

We’re quite comfortable with the term “Noise pop”. However, less in the original use of the term as a synonym for “shoegazing”, even though we draw influences from bands of that genre when it comes to combine traditional rock songwriting with noise and experimentalish sounds. For us it’s all about playing with the contraries: noise and pop, happiness and sadness, irony and gravity, rawness and silkiness. Each element is allowed to have its own place, there’s no synthesis in our songs.

Where and when did it all start for the band?

The band was formed in Berlin in 2013.

What attracts you to play live in Berlin?

For us playing in Berlin means playing for our friends, with our friends, at small cosy venues like Antje Oeklesund or Monarch. Just like home.

Isolation Berlin and Yoga will be playing at Monarch on Thursday, December 4th. Doors @ 20:00 – Show @ 20:30. 4-7 €
