Between April 4th-10th, True Italian Pizza Week returns to Berlin – this time in 32 restaurants across the city, plus an Aperol Spritz is included in the price!

Ah, True Italian Pizza Week. Considering there are two Dominos pizzas within 200 metres of my house, I have very little motivation to leave my house for pizza (don’t hate me, I’m just usually hungover). But True Italian Pizza Week is like that first day in spring when you just want to gleefully run through the city screaming. The doors of the best pizzerias in Berlin swing open for you, showcasing their best, most authentic pizzas, at a ridiculously affordable price. To continue the weather analogy to its logical course: it, like good weather, just never seems to last long enough.

The fact that we’re official media partners for True Italian Pizza Week doesn’t hurt, either.

How does True Italian Pizza Week work?

Between April 4th-10th, 32 ‘True Italian’ restaurants in Berlin will be participating in the event. Each will offer two unique varieties of pizza.

In 25 of those places, you’ll get a pizza, either an Aperol Spritz or a Campari Amalfi cocktail and an Amaro Averna digestif for just 12€.

In the other 7 places (those without the capacity to mix cocktails), you’ll get the pizza and a beer or soft drink for 10€.

Not a bad offer, eh? The best thing is that you can fall into your favourite local pizzeria, test out one of Berlin’s big names, or head out into the pizza-unknown by picking one at random, all without breaking the bank.

What does ‘True Italian’ even mean?

Although the event is sponsored by the Municipality of Napoli, you don’t have to be Italian to get the coveted title of ‘True Italian’ in Berlin. It’s political correctness gone mad!

No, it all comes down to ingredient choice (the best, of course), the actual time the dough is left to rise (at least 9 hours), and the oven used to fire the pizza to perfection in seconds. Needs to taste good un’ all.
