Carrying on my search for more Berlin T-shirts, I came across The Dudes Factory.

With big bold letters in a vintage-ish style, the small window of their new shop in Kreuzberg can surely draw some attention.

The Dudes Factory, which I later came to learn, is actually not only a t-shirt brand but also a place for creating customized art and apparel with graphics designed by a range of illustrators and artists.

And naturally everything made more sense when I also learned that the brand was created by former ad-agency duo Arnaud Loix van Hooff and Heribert Willmerdinger.

The business came to life in 2010 as an online platform for graphic art and, long story short, today they have a flagship store in Torstrasse and the new shop at Schlesische Strasse.

Amongst the skateboards and tees, you can find there the perfect print and have the products customized with it for you. Mainly it works like this, pick your print and have it on the product however you want.

There are also items made in collaboration with artists like Mcbess, a French graphic designer, who has previously injected a little cool into French fashion retailer Colette Paris with a range of designs.

Arnaud Loix Van Hoof, creative director, shared with us more about the brand’s philosophy “the core ideal of The Dudes is to keep the creative process fresh, fun and relevant to their lifestyles which combines graphic art, custom culture, the culinary arts and a huge range of other subcultures like tattoos and graffiti all seamlessly merged into the unique brand that it is today.”

He also says that right now they are even building a more solid foundation when it comes to projects involving exhibitions and events.

“We make from an exhibition of painted sections of the Berlin wall to epic events with live music, art, food, drinks and tattoos. I believe this quickly gained to our flagship store a reputation as a must see destination in Berlin.”

For the future, we can expect even more from the Dudes Factory. They are planning on opening The Dudes Delicatessen (more or less at the beginning of July). Situated next to the Kreuzberg shop, the 100m² venue will be dedicated to good food and fine alcohols. There will be local and handcrafted products like cheeses, French salamis, pulled pork & brisket sandwiches with homemade sauces, plus a selection of their 100 favorites liquors and spirits that will be available for sale to take away or to drink at the Deli.

To add more fun to it, for €2 everyone will be allowed to spin their “Wheel of Misfortune” and win goods or try one of the Dudes’ home-made liquors.

Besides the treats, all products like glasses, plates, cutting boards, and so on will be produced and customized by The Dudes and the artist Mcbess.

“So you can expect a feast for your eyes and your tummy”, ensures Arnaud, creative director.
