A Gin and Art Fantasyland in an Abandoned U-Bahn Station

By BERLIN LOVES YOU . October 16, 2018

From the 18th-21st October, artists are taking over a disused U-Bahn tunnel.

The CANVAS BAR project will see artists take over a U3 station and tunnel under Potsdamer Platz to create a unique, subterranean art space and party. Over the five days of CANVAS BAR, you can watch the artworks being created, as all artists will be working in real-time.

On the final day, the completed artworks will be auctioned, with the proceeds going to the support of students of the Design Academy Berlin, who will also be contributing to the CANVAS BAR project.

The artists will include Rankin, Paul Schrader, Stefan Kunz, Olaf Hajek, Lacy Barry & Cris Wiegandt, SuperBlast, Sigrid Artmann, Darwin Stapel and Mary Lennox.

Entry into the CANVAS BAR will cost 5 EUR, and the doors are open between 18:00 and 02:00. All visitors receive two free cocktails with the entry cost, but if you pre-buy tickets using their ticket portal here you will receive a third drink for free.

The art isn’t just on the walls.

CANVAS BAR is a project from iconic British gin brand, Bombay Sapphire. Along with the art, Bombay Sapphire mixologists will be providing their own contributions – fantastical gin creations to bring a gin palace party mood to the exhibit.

You’ll receive two for free through abendkasse or three if you buy your tickets beforehand.

You can also join in the art – you’re invited to contribute your own works to the walls of the disused tunnel, as well as experimenting with new colours and flavours at their gin cocktail studio. Because drinking is an art form too, you know?

BERLIN LOVES YOU has 5×2 tickets to give away.

***Competition now closed! Congrats to the winners!***

We have already received our first 5 entrants’ emails so the competition is now closed.

This living art studio-turned-pop-up nightspot will be a creative space for art and gin lovers alike (which I guess is most of us?). And seeing an abandoned U-Bahn station is reason enough to go to Potsdamer Platz.

Plus, if you want to invest in some new art whilst also generating some cash for a good cause, you could take a piece of art home with you at the final auction.

CANVAS BAR will be open between 18th-21st October, 18:00-02:00. Get your tickets now.
