British Shorts Homage: Tilda Swinton, Joanna Hogg, Cynthia Beatt

The British Shorts Film Festival, Berlin homage 2018 honours three outstanding women of film and their early short films from the 1980s: the exceptional actress Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive) and the directors Joanna Hogg (Unrelated) and Cynthia Beatt (The Invisible Frame, British Shorts Jury Member 2013).

The back then unknown scottish actress Katherine Matilda Swinton made her film debut in Joanna Hogg’s NFTS graduation short film Caprice, playing Lucky who loses herself in the shallow world of fashion magazines.

In Cynthia Beatt’s experimental documentary, we follow Tilda Swinton and her thoughts as she circumnavigates West Berlin alongside the 96 mile-long, iconic symbol of the cold war.
